Veronika is a Belarusian-born, German-naturalised comedian, film director and writer. She moved to Germany at 18 and has been flying through the creative industry ever since, developing her voice and perfecting what she calls sad comedy. The kind where you laugh and cry at the same time, because self-pity is just another form of self-care.
She started performing on Frankfurt's stand-up scene right before the pandemic (which, in fairness, is pretty on-brand for sad comedy) and later moved to Berlin. Growing up, she was good at exactly one thing: making people laugh. Her mother's nickname for her was "a real-life cartoon," and it stuck.
Her humour is rooted in integration, womanhood in the film industry, and the beautiful weirdness of everyday life as a Belarusian. A country most people have never heard of, unless you count the White Russian cocktail.
